*Please note that the duration of our ocean safaris will depend on weather and sea conditions. If conditions become rough, we may return earlier for the comfort and safety of the group.

If conditions are favorable and we want to spend more time on the water, it may be possible to extend it for an additional 200 MXN (~10 USD) per person, per hour.

Payment Plan

• 700 USD non-refundable deposit to secure your spot
• 50% of the remaining balance due by November 15, 2026
• 100% remaining balance due by February 15, 2027

Cancellation policy

If you cancel your booking:

• Before November 15, 2026: only the deposit won't be refunded.
• Between November 15, 2026 and February 22, 2027: the 700 USD deposit and 50% of the remaining trip balance will be retained.
• After February 15, 2027: 100% of the expedition cost will be retained.

Please note: If we are able to fill your spot with another participant, we'll refund the money you've paid, deducted by transfer fees.

No dive certification is required. All water wildlife encounters take place from the surface while snorkeling. As long as you're comfortable swimming in the open ocean without assistance, you're welcome to join!

Sometimes you can also freedive but this is not required. Most animals we'll see will be very close to the surface. 

Yes, it is possible to see orcas during your expedition, as they're occasionally spotted in the waters around La Ventana, where they come to feed, socialize, rest, and travel through the area.

Also, swimming with orcas in Mexico requires a special permit. If we encounter them and conditions allow for an ethical interaction, we'll have the necessary permits to enter the water with them.

That said, orcas are highly mobile animals that can cover large distances in a single day. Some weeks they show up, while other weeks they're not seen at all.

They're are seen way more rarely than the social media is telling us. It's important that we don't come to this expedition with any expectations but we treat every encounter as a gift and enjoy every encounter that ocean gives us, whether it's an orca, a dolphin, or a sea lion. 

Many people join the expedition on their own, so don't worry, you won't be the only solo traveler!

It's a great opportunity to meet like-minded ocean lovers, share incredible wildlife encounters, and make new friends. Some of the best friendships start on adventures like these.

The most frequent sightings normally include mobula munkiana, dolphins, sea lions, and sea turtles. Depending on the week and ocean conditions, we may also encounter other mobulas (Mobula mobular, Oceanic manta), whales (Blue whale, Fin whale, Humpback whale, Bryde’s whale, Sperm Whale), orcas, pilot whales, whale sharks, mola molas, sharks, and more.

Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, and every week is different. 

No, this is not a scuba diving trip. The expedition is focused on ocean safaris and wildlife encounters from the surface while snorkeling.

Mobulas are very fast, constantly changing location so it'd be almost impossible to catch up with them while scuba diving 🙂 

But, if you'd like to scuba dive in the region, you could stay an extra day or more on your own, and dive in Cabo Pulmo. It's only a 2 hour drive and it's absolutely amazing!

It all depends on the animals' behavior and the conditions on the day.

Mobula rays are naturally shy animals, and if they feel threatened or pressured, they may dive deeper and become difficult to observe. Very often staying on the surface actually gives us the best chance of enjoying a longer encounter.

We'll also consider factors such as the number of boats in the area and the overall behavior of the animals. Our goal is always to minimize our impact and avoid making the mobulas feel chased or disturbed.

Our expert guide will assess each situation and let us know whether freediving is possible. If conditions allow, there may be opportunities to dive down with the mobulas. If not, we'll enjoy observing them from the surface while respecting their natural behavior.

The expedition will be taking place in El Sargento, Mexico. To get here you have two options:

Option 1 (Recommended): La Paz International Airport (LAP)
Arrive either a few days before the expedition or on the first day of the trip (May 15, 2027) in the morning or around noon. We'll pick you up from the airport and transfer you to El Sargento.

Option 2: Los Cabos International Airport (SJD)
You can also fly into Los Cabos Airport (SJD). We'll pick you up there and drive to El Sargento.

The same applies for the way back. If you're flying out of La Paz on the last expedition day (May 20, 2027), I'd recommend booking your flight around noon/afternoon hours but the morning is also possible.

If you're flying out from Cabo San Lucas, I'd recommend booking your flight for the afternoon/evening hours. 

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and passport. Many travelers from the US and Europe can enter Mexico as tourists for up to 180 days without a visa.

I recommend checking the official entry requirements that apply for your country. 

While credit cards are accepted in many places, I recommend carrying some Mexican pesos for tips, dinners, small shops, and other incidental expenses.

There are ATMs available in El Sargento, but they may charge additional fees. If possible, it's best to withdraw cash before arriving or bring some pesos with you.

Absolutely! Everyone is encouraged to bring their own snorkeling or freediving equipment.

However, if you don't have your own gear, we provide snorkeling equipment, including masks, snorkels, and fins.

Freediving fins and wetsuits are available for rent for 200 MXN (~10 USD) per item, per day.

We strongly recommend wearing a wetsuit or rashguard for protection against jellyfish and other stinging marine life, including Portuguese man o' war.
